Trayvon Martin coverage: Not fast and only somewhat furious

I’ll be one of the first people to say that the media should stay away from individual cases of criminality and tragedy, mainly because fact-gathering is hard and judgment moves faster. But I have to agree that Trayvon Martin’s case is an exception to the rule.

If people don’t think that the case should be discussed in the national media at all, fine, I think there’s an argument to be made for that. But when the facts keep on confirming the original story, it’s hard to make the argument that everyone got this one wrong.
