Economic inequality isn’t inherently a racial issue, and rising inequality would be disturbing even if there weren’t a racial dimension.

Lots of liberals have trouble talking about economic inequality without going straight to race, or to other related issues. That’s probably because of almost a 60 years of McCarthyism has left liberals unable to articulate a direct case against income inequality that doesn’t make them feel guilty, ashamed, or powerless.
