Even though my UG studies were in biology, I don’t really share the belief that many scientists have that further advances will alleviate human suffering. Medical advances happen on a weekly basis, but people are still dying from malaria. New technology has allowed us to make more food than ever before while there are more hungry people than ever before. Etc.
So, yeah, there’s a machine that can efficiently read people’s genetic code, and it’ll only get more efficient. How long before it’s used to restrict people’s health care options?
